Leg Massage Tutorial 2/4

LOL just realized I forgot to add pictures.. Now with pictures haha :P

For the other parts of the leg massage, click on the tab 'Diary of a Beauty Therapist Student' or on the tab 'Tutorials'.

(Leg is referred to as the lower part, Thigh as the upper part of the leg)

Continue with the Leg
1.     Crosswise Effleurage Leg
2.    Hand-over- hand Effleurage
    -    Instead of going over the two sides and the middle, you stroke only two parts.
3.    Petrissage: Parallelkneading Calf Muscle
    -    Start at the Achilles tendon
    -    Pick it up with your index finger, and apply counter-pressure with your thumb.
    -    As the muscle gets bigger use more and more hand until you use your entire hand..
    -    Start with the inner muscle part first. Then lightly touch the skin as you go back down.
    -    Then you do the muscle part on the outside. Then lightly touch the skin as you move back down.

4.    W-effleurage
    -    W-effleurage
    -    W- rotation
    -    W-effleurage
    -    Lightly touch as you go back down.
5.    Tapotements 1x
    -    Battre: Perform this crosswise in a U-shape
    -    Ulnair hacking: Perform in length. Not in a U-shape, but move from side to side. When you reach the ankle you go back up towards the popliteal space.
    -    Fist: perform this a bit softer than normal, do it crosswise and in a U-shape.
6.     Hand-over-hand Effleurage
7.    Shaking Calf Muscle
    -    Lift the leg by grapping the ankle.
    -    Lay your other hand just above the popliteal space.
    -    Then let the leg shake by moving your hand at the ankle.

Entire Leg
1.    Ending Effleurage
    -    Perform a complete crosswise Effleurage.
2.    Vibration 1x
    -    Vibrate along the leg with your hands. Vibrate from out of your upper-arms. Don’t forget to breathe!

Front of the Leg: (Avoid the shin-bone/tibia at all time!)
Perform with two hands symmetrical at both sides of the leg.
1.    Effleurage Entire Leg
    -    Start before the ankle and move around/under the ankle.
    -    Longitudinal-Effleurage leg (Important: Do not touch the shin-bone)
    -    When you get to the knee you just go along the sides of the knee with your hands.
    -    Crosswise Effleurage Thigh
    -    You don’t have to go back down this time
2.    Intermittent Pressure 1x
    -    Thigh: the same as normal.
    -    Leg: With the hand on the inside of the leg you lift the tissue from the side in length and then apply    counter-pressure crosswise with the other hand.
    -    You have to hold the hand on the inside quite high against the shin-bone, so that the fingers of both  hands interlock.

Continue with the Upperleg
1.    Effleurage Thigh
    -    Crosswise effleurage
2.    Hand-over- hand Effleurage
3.    Plättgriff
    -    Perform on the edge of the aponevrosis from the vastus lateralis/outer muscle of the quadriceps femoris/four headed muscle of the femur. (It’s the muscle on the outside of the thigh)
    -    See picture on how to hold your hand.
    -    Knuckles first as you stroke up with pressure.
    -    Touch the skin lightly as you go back down again.
4.    Thumb Roll on the Outside of the Thigh.
    -    Again, perform on the edge of the aponevrosis from the vastus lateralis/outer muscle of the quadriceps femoris/four headed muscle of the femur.
    -    With your thumbs you alternately ‘walk’ up the leg.
    -    It’s a bit similar to the thumb movement of the petrissage/kneading, without using the pinky side of your  hand.
5.    Frictions on the Outside of the Thigh 1x
    -    Put one hand (the one closest to the knee) on the knee for support.
    -    Keep your middle- & ring finger together and make tiny circular motions as you go deep, deeper, deepest into the tissue.
    -    Do this at 3 places on the side of the leg (at the same place as the previous two steps)
6.    Full Hand Effleurage on the Outside of the Thigh 1x
    -    On hand on the knee, with the other you stroke up in length.
    -    Perform on the muscle at the outside of the thigh.
    -    You end with your hand in a fist.

  1. Researchers have found some of advantages to help you decide that massage chair not only help you maintain a calm health, but as an income source as well.
One major benefit of a vending massage chair is, you don't have to call for an appointment at your local spa or massage parlor. You can go any time even at the time of wolves and have a beautiful massage. After feeling completely rejuvenated you would wonder why you didn't invest in a massage chair earlier!
