Haul: Zoeva Palettes & Brushes (+ some other stuff I bought)

(Originally posted on: 01/14/2011)

Just thought I'd share my latest haul with you. I bought some nice things from Zoeva-shop.de and I also did some shopping in my hometown and on marktplaats.nl (Dutch eBay). Geez, typing this I realize I may have spend a little bit too much this week haha.

What's Zoeva?

Zoeva is a German online shop where they sell single make-up brushes, make-up brushes sets and a very wide range of make-up palettes. They add new products to their shop quite often I must say. Zoeva also ships internationally, the countries to which they ship are listed on their website. Website can be also be viewed in English.

Palettes
Concealer Palette  (E.14,95/$20,-)

This palette has 12 large skin colour pans and 8 smaller colour corrector pans, there is also a concealer brush inside. The correction colours on the right side of the palettes are from left to right starting above: purple, white, green, yellow/beige, dark pink, orange, soft pink and brown.

Face Contour Palette (E.14,95/$20,-)

The Face Contouring Palette has 6 large pans, which is pretty much stating the obvious because I think you can see just fine and assuming you can count of course(just kidding, of course you can) :P. The size of these pans really surprised me, normally I always get excited when I receive my ordered palettes, until I open them and find the pans are really tiny, but not with this one. The pans are about 7 cm, which is 2 and a half inch if I'm not mistaken.

Brushes

225 Eye Blender Brush (E.4,20/$5,61)
From left to right: Coastal Scents Synthetic Deluxe Crease Brush($2,78 = E. 2,09) and the Zoeva 225 Eye Blender Brush (E.4,20 = $5,61).

Similarities between the CS & Zoeva brushes:
- The hairs in both the brushes are shaped round.
- The brushes also seem to widen just a bit out at the top.
- The length of the hairs are quite similar, which is imo exactly the right size for both the eyelid as the crease.
- The handles of the brushes are almost identical even though the length differs, the colours and material are practically the same.
- Another thing they have in common is that both can be used not only for blending but also for the crease (based upon my personal experiences).

Differences:
* Zoeva:
- The hairs in this brush are horse hairs and there seem to be more hairs in this brush.
- This brush is wider.
- I have tested this brush and I find it does not only do what it is meant to do, but it is also very soft, so no hurting your fragile skin with this brush.

* CS:
- Synthetic hairs
- The brush feels very firm and a little hard, it does seem to give you more control when blending.
- Hairs are a bit scratchy

228 Crease Brush (E.4,20/$5,61)
From left to right: Coastal Scents Sable Blending Brush a.k.a. C200 Deluxe Crease ($2,90 = E. 2,17) and the Zoeva 228 Crease Brush (E. 4,20 = $5,61)

Similarities between CS & Zoeva Brushes:
- Again, just as with the other two, these brushes have a similar shape; a long rounded shape.
- They both have very long hairs and are fluffy; things that imo a brush must have in order to be a good crease brush.
- Handles are not very different from the handles of the blending brushes, so that means that the handles of these two brushes are pretty much the same.
- Both brushes are great for the crease but can also be used for blending along the way.

Differences
* Zoeva
- This brush is softer than the CS one.
- Zoeva brushes seems to always be a bit wider than the Coastal Scents brushes, no difference with this brush.
- The hairs in this brush are horse hairs.
 * CS
- It's quite scratchy if you go in the crease just a little too enthusiastic. But if you apply gently and don't go too deep in the crease it is okay.
- Sable hairs
- The thin and pointy shape of this brush makes it possible to get deep into the crease, but misses the fluffiness needed to make a more 'airbrushed' look.

Where to buy?

Are you interested in buying one or more of these products? Here is where you can get them: CoastalScents & Zoeva

Other things I bought this week:
 From left to right:

This truly is a real lifesaver when you don't have time to wash your hair and Blush also smells real nice.

Maybelline Great lash Mascara in Blackest Black E. 10,48 At your local drug store
My favourite mascara, and it has been for years now.

Dr. van der Hoog (Dutch brand) Hydro Klei Masker E.1,79 Dutch drug stores
Dr. van der Hoog Dode Zee Masker E.2,07 Dutch drug stores
Great for relaxing and also good for your skin.

Beauty Essenntials Eyemask hot/cold E.1,99 Dutch drug stores, I'm not sure if you can buy this in other countries
Another product in my war against bags and dark circles.

Jojoba Oil E.8,50 Local Herbs/Reform shop(don't know how it's called in English)
Can't live without this oil. It's very close to our natural skin oil. Great for keeping skin and hair hydrated. Really helped me get rid of the ever-returning split ends.

Loose Nettle (Dutch: Brandnetel) Tea E.2,19 Again local herbs shop or even supermarket
Trying this out as a replacement for facial tonic.

Last but not least (so cliché I know): This is a perfume set I bought at marktplaats (Dutch eBay)
